Building Fence

Dad decided to build a bigger pen for our cow Elk...The  fence posts were all pounded in the ground before we left for TX. So, all that needed done was putting the fence up. Which we did when we got back.

I forgot to take my camera with me! Imagine that! Ugh. But, after mom was done doing school with the younger kids, she took them all back to where we was working. And. She had her phone with her and took all these pictures. :-) (Thanks Mom)

This here, was pretty hard, dad was sliding down this steep hill, and the only way he could stop, was clamp the fence tightening thing, and make the fence tight. Then we'd tie the fence to the post, and Walla!  He'd loosen it, and slide down the hill a little more, and repeat...It's kinda a little bit scary, but a little bit fun to... :-)

 For nice tight fence, we go outside of a few posts then go around to the inside of a few post then out again. Since the skid-loader (or rather 'Bob Cat') couldn't go on the outside of this post here, we had to lift the eight foot fence up and up over the post.

 And the most fun about going down a steep hill is, the fence is really high, so we have to stand on it to weigh it down to be able to attach it to the posts. :)

Yup, I reckon so...Here comes Nev with the track-hoe to pull him out.

 How do you attach fence to metal posts? You wrap a wire around the post and the fence. And with a special tool on a drill, you twist the wire around and around. And Walla! It's as good or better then a staple. ;-) (Well, lets just say, its faster then bang banging in a staple).

So there, that's the way we build fence. Sometimes. :-)
